Junior Tennis Programs

Red Ball Progression - ages 5-8

Our youngest players are introduced to tennis through fun, game-based activities. Using the Red Ball format (low-compression red balls on a smaller 36′ court), kids build basic athletic skills while learning the very fundamentals of tennis. Emphasis is on enjoyment and confidence – every child practices at their own pace in a supportive, non-competitive setting.

· Motor Skills & Coordination: Engaging games and drills improve agility, balance and hand-eye coordination.

· Basic Strokes: Introduction to the forehand and backhand swing using easy-to-hit red balls.

· Rallying & Play: Children learn to keep a gentle rally going with coaches and peers; fun mini games reinforce court movement and swing timing.

· Footwork & Balance: Focus on moving in a ready stance, taking small steps and maintaining balance during play.

· Session Format: 60 minutes class per week for 4 weeks (4 classes total). Small group sizes ensure each child gets attention.

· Equipment: Age-appropriate racquets and oversized red balls on 36-foot courts make it easier to hit and rally.

Schedule: TBD

Format: 60-minute session

Price: $120 per child for the full 4-week session (4 classes)

Orange/Green Ball Progression - ages 8-12

Older kids continue building on their skills with more advanced play. In this program, players use Orange and Green balls on progressively larger courts (60′ and full-size) as their abilities grow. The focus is still on fun and development, but with greater emphasis on technique and game understanding. Children practice longer rallies, introduce serving and begin learning scoring basics – all in a friendly, low-pressure environment.

· Stroke Development: Solidify groundstrokes by practicing forehand and backhand with proper form; begin introducing the serving motion (often starting with an underhand or toss-hit serve).

· Rallying & Volleys: Continue rallying with peers using orange/green balls; introduce net play with easy volleys to develop all-court skills.

· Scoring & Match Play: Learn basic rules and scoring (points, games) through fun practice matches and team challenges; experience keeping score in a simple way.

· Physical Skills: Agility and footwork drills become more dynamic, improving speed and movement around the larger court.

· Session Format: 60 minutes class per week for 4 weeks (4 classes total). Coaches use a mix of drills, games and supervised play to keep kids engaged.

· Equipment: Gradually transition from low-compression orange balls (on 60′ courts) to slightly faster green balls (on full courts), matching each child’s progress.

Both programs are designed for beginning and recreational players. All coaches are experienced with junior athletes and emphasize positive reinforcement. By the end of each 4-week session, children will have gained confidence with basic tennis skills and a love for the game – ready to return for the next session and continue improving!

Schedule: TBD

Format: 60-minute session

Price: $120 per child for the full 4-week session (4 classes)
